Reader swartz architects designed the renovation of this 1970 s farmhouse. When the hip is equal on all four sides it is sometimes called a pavilion roof or a pyramid roof. It may consist of a flat roof on top but the main design element is the multi pitch sloped in what is essentially a hip roof on top of another hip frame. A simple roof design shaped like an inverted v.

Shed roofs are easy to build because all rafters are identical. Gabled roofs with eyebrow dormers shown here or other curved details are the exception. Because most gabled roofs consist of flat sections you can cover them with virtually any roofing material. The result of joining two or more gabled roof sections together forming a t or l shape for the simplest forms or any number of more complex shapes.

Peaked roof definition is a roof of two or more slopes rising to a ridge. Shingles made of wood stone tile or metal work fine. The hip roof also referred to as a hipped roof is asymmetrical rectangular construction with two hips meeting at either end with four sloping uniform sides meeting at a single peak. The sloped roofs on this modern home were designed to take advantage of the path of the sun to maximize brightness and to make the interior of the home feel bigger and brighter.
